Chassisworks Weld-in Rear Coilover conversion system
1964-72 GM A body (Chevelle, GTO, Cutlass, Skylark, etc.)
Chris Alston’s Chassisworks now offers a top-quality, weld-in rear coil-over suspension conversion for 1964-1972 GM A-bodies. The upper and lower shock mount brackets consist of a weld on lower mount with adjustable ride height and anti squat that can be welded to any 3″ dia. axle tune rear end (10/12-bolt, 9″,10″ S60 etc) rear-end housing and a tubular crossmember upper mount.
These weld-on axle brackets and upper shock crossmember allow the shocks and lower control arms to be moved inward for additional tire clearance if desired.
VariShock coil-over shocks are included in the package and are SS Series factory adjusted Grand Touring shocks tuned for best ride quality and handling performance. Billet-aluminum lower shock mounts can be moved to one of four positions, enabling a ride-height adjustment range of nearly 2”.
Kits include tubular upper crossmemeber with weld on mounts and weld on lower mounting brackets, billet shock mounts, all mounting hardware, and VariShocks with coil springs (110 to 400 lb/in) or integrated air bags.
